2027 SPWLA Topical Conference

The Role of Geoscience in Production Enhancement and Optimization

March 30–April 1, 2027
Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Conference Overview

The 2027 SPWLA Topical Conference will showcase the critical role of geoscience in overcoming production challenges and maximizing asset value throughout the field lifecycle. As the industry seeks to improve hydrocarbon recovery, optimize reservoir performance, and support the transition to a sustainable energy future, advances in geoscience, formation evaluation, and reservoir characterization continue to provide essential insights for informed decision-making and improved operational outcomes.

This conference will bring together industry leaders, geoscientists, engineers, and technology innovators to share knowledge, best practices, and success stories demonstrating how integrated geoscience solutions contribute to production enhancement, reservoir optimization, and the development of emerging resource opportunities, including critical minerals.

Key Technical Topics

  • Geoscience-driven solutions for water management and production optimization
  • Formation evaluation and geoscience applications in coiled-tubing drilling operations
  • Leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics to enhance reservoir understanding and optimize production
  • Geoscience solutions for critical minerals exploration, characterization, and resource development
  • Managing uncertainty and improving confidence in reservoir characterization workflows
  • Recovery factor enhancement strategies in carbonate reservoirs
  • Innovative geoscience approaches to maximize production from tight and unconventional reservoirs
  • Integrated subsurface workflows that bridge geology, petrophysics, geophysics, and reservoir engineering to improve field performance

Educational Sessions

In addition to the technical program, dedicated educational sessions will provide attendees with a strong foundation in the principles, methodologies, and best practices required for the successful application of these technologies and workflows.

These sessions are designed to enhance technical competency, promote knowledge transfer, and support the effective implementation of geoscience solutions across a wide range of reservoir and production environments.

Through collaboration, innovation, and the exchange of practical experiences, this conference aims to highlight how geoscience continues to drive production enhancement, improve recovery efficiency, reduce uncertainty, and unlock new resource potential in an evolving energy landscape.
