SPWLA is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to advancing the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation through well logging and other techniques applicable to exploitation of gas, oil and other minerals.
Founded in 1959, the organization serves as a voice of shared interests for scientists in the petroleum and mineral industries, strengthens petrophysical education and increases awareness of roles petrophysics play in the oil and gas industry as well as the scientific community.
Founded in 1995 and meeting twice per year since that time, and now nested under the SPWLA and based in Houston, the Resistivity Special Interest Group (Rt-SIG) is an active group of resistivity specialists, and for people generally interested in resistivity-related formation evaluation.
Rt-SIG organizes meetings twice a year (Spring & Fall), featuring technical presentations and discussions on a variety of resistivity formation evaluation topics.
